Great location, everything was close by. Amazing view on the Empire State Building. Bed was very comfortable and the shower was really good! You could hear everything through the door though. You have to wait quite a long time for the elevator and often they are packed full. Breakfast was ok - packed during rush hour and not great selection. Lobby was always full of people waiting for something and some were sleeping on the floor. Overall good experience but will not stay here again. Good price for what you get but it’s not a 4-star hotel as advertised.
Small room but with a great view from the 32nd floor. Breakfast was bad and changed every day. Super processed everything. Nothing homemade except maybe the coffee. The staff was nice and somewhat helpful.
I liked the location in Chelsea, close to the Flatiron building and close to subway.
Had a great trip to NYC recently, but this hotel was undoubtedly the low point of the trip. While the room itself was clean with a decent view and housekeeping/service was good, there were a number of issues.
The elevator situation has been covered at length, and we were lucky to be on the 9th floor so we could walk (though still not ideal). Our room was also directly opposite an elevator, meaning lots of noise and several midnight wake-ups. There was also a random drilling or grinding noise at various points in the night, and the air-conditioning units were really loud, which was not ideal as the room got very warm. There was also very limited general waste disposal on our floor.
Breakfast was included, but we didn't have it at all after our first day, as it was very poor. I've had much better buffet breakfasts at other, cheaper, hotels. There is also no complementary water unless you are a world of Hyatt member, with water in the room otherwise costing $5 per bottle.
Finally, the airport shuttle. This costs the same as a taxi, so we assumed it would be a private car and were not told otherwise. What we got instead was an overbooked minivan, meaning we had to hold our cases on our laps for 2 hours while we negotiated the rush hour traffic to JFK. Had we known this was the case, we would have got a taxi.
None of these issues alone would have been a massive problem, but put them all together and the location alone is not enough to save it. We're lucky we spent as little time as possible in the hotel, and won't be returning when next in Manhattan.
I had a fantastic stay at Hyatt Place New York/Chelsea. The staff was incredibly helpful, making my experience enjoyable from start to finish. The 2nd-floor bar and lounge added a delightful touch, providing a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
The included breakfast exceeded my expectations, offering a variety of delicious options that set a positive tone for the day. Moreover, my room was not only comfortable but also featured a breathtaking view of the Empire State Building, adding a memorable aspect to my stay.
Overall, I highly recommend Hyatt Place New York/Chelsea for a wonderful blend of excellent service, inviting amenities, and remarkable views.
We came to town for the New York Marathon and we were very pleased with our stay here. Our room had a great view of Midtown and the Empire State Building, and the hotel was easily accessible to everything we wanted to get to. The hotel is …
I had a last-minute stay in September, opting for this hotel after a disappointing experience elsewhere. The king room with a city view on the higher floors was delightful, and I rarely waited long for elevators. The breakfast, spanning two …
I had a wonderful stay. The rooms aren't big but very clean, wonderfully nice house keeping. I don't understand why US AC systems have to be so loud and inefficient, but you'll get that anywhere. The reception area in terms of atmosphere is …
I stopped into the Hyatt Place bar/lounge after reading some great reviews. The space is beautiful with great sunroom and bar top atmosphere. Sat at the bar and was served by Kevin who was very friendly and had excellent customer service! Planning to come back in the future.
